need advice and opinion pleeeease

my newly ex boyfriend has been arrested on felony child neglect charges,out of state warrants in michigan. i did not know about. he is 40,000-50,000- in back child support. he said its not his first time.he said the first time he was 30,000 in back support and only had to serve 45 days in jail! how is this possible? now he is awaiting to be brought back to michigan to face these charges. he thinks his family is going to get his ex to sign papers to get him off the hook! is this possible? i dont hate him,but i think that he should face some kind of punishment. need some insight. what does anyone think about this...going nutts!
